About

Engineer's ears, producer's eye.

I'm Zak Sherzad, a media producer and engineer based in Brooklyn. For more than 30 years I've worked behind cameras, consoles and control rooms, recording musicians, streaming live events and building the systems that keep productions running.

My path started in music. After studying languages and art history in Lausanne, Switzerland, I earned an M.F.A. in Electronic Music & Recording Media at Mills College in California. I went on to run media production at Harvard Law School, supervise the NYU TV Center, and lead live productions for BRIC TV and Celebrate Brooklyn! at the Bandshell. In 2006 I founded MediaZak to bring that experience to artists and organizations directly.

I'm a musician and multimedia performer myself. I play cello, flute, percussion and didgeridoo, and for more than 20 years I've recorded, filmed and streamed music and dance for Arts for Art. I know what performers need on stage, and I know how to keep the stream up when the venue Wi-Fi isn't.
